Hormone therapy is a method of transitioning medically that changes someone’s hormones to match that of the gender they hope to transition to. Estrogen is the hormone commonly taken by MTF trans people or AMAB (assigned male at birth) non-binary people to make themselves more feminine. On the other hand, Testosterone is the hormone commonly taken my FTM trans people or AFAB (assigned female at birth) non-binary people to make themselves more masculine. Hormone therapy often results in voice changes, changes to facial hair and face structure, changes in menstrual cycle, and more, but the effects vary from person to person.
