Non-binary identities are any identity that doesn’t fall under the gender binary (the traditional man and woman gender structure). Non-binary identities include but are not limited to:
- Non-binary
- Genderqueer
- Bigender
- Agender
- Genderfluid
- Demigender, Demiboy, and Demigirl
A lot of non-binary and other trans people go through times in their lives in which they experiment with different identities under the non-binary umbrella. This doesn’t mean that any of these identities are a phase – they are simply part of the journey to self-discovery, and gender non-conforming people need support from the people in their lives as they go through all of this. No matter how confusing it may be for you, it’s more confusing for them.
